COVID-19 Statement, 9 April 2020

Hawick Common Riding Committee  – 9th April 2020

Hawick Common Riding Committee would like to acknowledge the fantastic effort being made by all of the essential services to support our community during the COVID-19 crisis.

To those who have lost loved ones, friends and colleagues, we offer our sincere and heart-felt condolences. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

For those who have been directly affected by illness, we wish you a speedy recovery and every good wish.

We also wish to recognise those of you who are classed as essential workers and continue to work in your day to day jobs to support the needs of the community.

We are aware and wish to acknowledge, alongside the professional services, the valued contribution being made by scores of volunteers and volunteer groups. We are extremely proud of the very real contribution being made.

Hawick has always had a strong sense of community and it has never been so strong, or as needed, as it is now.

We urge all townsfolk to offer support and help where required and to adhere to the Government’s “Stay Home” advice.

Tonight, at 8.00pm, as we stand in gratitude at our doorways, windows and gardens, we will be applauding key workers, shop keepers and volunteers who are working hard to help those most in need within our community – we thank you ALL for your service.
